Today’s Project:

Provide 14 Low-Fuel Cookstoves to Help Prevent Deforestation in Africa

42,000 daily clicks fund this project

Malawi is one of the poorest and most densely populated countries in the world, with over 90% of the population relying on wood or charcoal for cooking. However, cooking daily on inefficient traditional open fires leads to serious repercussions including smoke-related illnesses, burns, economic hardship, as well as the destruction of the natural environment on which millions of Malawians depend. The wood required for cooking and accidental fires has lead to much deforestation. With your help we can prevent forest fires and unnecessary injuries from cooking. For just $15 you can provide a family with an efficient and safe cookstove.  Read more

If you can’t detect breast cancer, you don’t have a chance to fight it. This is as true around the world as it is in America. But with your help, we can ensure better healthcare for women in Rwanda.

Help Save the Critically Endangered Grauer’s Gorilla: Completed March 22, 2017

44,000 daily clicks funded this project – thank you!

The Grauer’s gorilla is the world’s largest ape, weighing up to 400 pounds. In 2016, it was classified as Critically Endangered. Scientific research showed a shocking decrease of Grauer’s gorillas due to illegal hunting and civil unrest in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) works with partners in the Democratic Republic of Congo and beyond to ensure gorilla population remains stable through ranger training, patrol, intelligence networks, and more. WCS also ensures that local communities have sustainable sources of livelihood—providing both food and income—so locals do not need to hunt apes or encroach into protected forests. With your donation WCS can continue to provide these services in areas that need it most.

Help Veterans Restore and Preserve Coral Reefs: Completed March 15, 2017

42,000 daily clicks funded this project – thank you!

Home to one-quarter of the world’s marine life, coral reefs are critically important for food, income, protection and new medicines. They are some of the most biologically diverse ecosystems on the planet, yet 60% of the world’s coral reefs are now dead or in decline. For combat veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, moving on from the pain and trauma they’ve experienced can be almost impossible. To better assimilate, these men and women must be made to realize that they are not alone and that their skills and training are transferable. For our participating veterans, FORCE BLUE provides a new mission: a chance to learn about and explore one of the most critically endangered ecosystems on the planet and the opportunity to adapt their training and teamwork to aid in its protection.
